A severe thunderstorm moved over Scott County near the Stamping
Ground area on the afternoon of Monday, May 11th, 2015. This storm
produced sporadic wind damage throughout the town of Stamping
Ground. One of the more concentrated areas of damage was along
Riley Street, where two large tree branches were snapped and a small
portion of a barn roof was blown off. An inspection of the tree
branches showed they were hollow and rotten on the inside.
Additional sporadic tree damage was found to the WNW and ENE of
Stamping Ground. All damage was determined to be caused by
straight-line winds with peak speeds of 60 to 65 MPH.
The National Weather Service would like to thank Scott County
