...HIGH SURF ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM THIS MORNING TO
NOON PDT SUNDAY...

* SURF...HIGH SURF 12 TO 18 FEET WITH SETS TO 20 FEET IS EXPECTED
  TO DEVELOP THIS MORNING AND CONTINUE THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING
  ALONG NORTHWEST AND WEST FACING BEACHES. A STRONG STORM IN THE
  GULF OF ALASKA HAS GENERATED A LARGE LONG PERIOD SWELL. THIS
  SWELL WILL MOVE INTO THE COASTAL WATERS NORTH OF POINT
  CONCEPTION BRINGING A SUDDEN INCREASE IN THE LARGE SURF. THE
  SURF IS EXPECTED TO DIMINISH SOME BY SATURDAY AFTERNOON INTO
  SUNDAY MORNING BUT REMAINING ABOVE 10 FEET THROUGH THE PERIOD.

* LOCATIONS...NORTHWEST AND WEST FACING BEACHES ACROSS THE
  CENTRAL COAST.

* IMPACTS...LARGE POWERFUL AND DAMAGING WAVES AND STRONG
  CURRENTS WILL CREATE A RISK OF OCEAN DROWNING. SNEAKER WAVES
  CAN SUDDENLY OVERRUN PREVIOUSLY DRY BEACHES AND JETTIES.

* TIDES...HIGH TIDES WILL BE MODERATELY HIGH AROUND 5.7 FT AT 9:45
  AM PDT TODAY AND ABOUT THE SAME TIDE HEIGHT ON SATURDAY AROUND
  10:10 AM PDT.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A HIGH SURF ADVISORY MEANS THAT HIGH SURF WILL AFFECT BEACHES IN
THE ADVISORY AREA...PRODUCING LOCALIZED BEACH EROSION AND
DANGEROUS SWIMMING CONDITIONS. SWIM NEAR A LIFEGUARD. IF CAUGHT
IN A RIP CURRENT, RELAX AND FLOAT. DON`T SWIM AGAINST THE
CURRENT. IF ABLE, SWIM IN A DIRECTION FOLLOWING THE SHORELINE. IF
UNABLE TO ESCAPE, FACE THE SHORE AND CALL OR WAVE FOR HELP.

* HAZARDS...SURF HEIGHTS 3 TO 6 FEET THROUGH SUNDAY EVENING. LOCAL
  SETS TO 8 FEET ARE POSSIBLE EARLY SATURDAY DUE TO A LONG PERIOD
  WEST NORTHWEST SWELL PEAKING ACROSS THE COASTAL WATERS DURING
  THIS TIME. THERE WILL BE GUSTY WEST WINDS AFFECTING THE VENTURA
  COUNTY COAST INCLUDING OXNARD THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING.

* IMPACTS...THERE IS AN INCREASED RISK FOR OCEAN DROWNING. RIP
  CURRENTS CAN PULL SWIMMERS AND SURFERS OUT TO SEA. LARGE
  BREAKING WAVES CAN WASH PEOPLE OFF JETTIES, BEACHES AND ROCKS...
  AND CAPSIZE SMALL BOATS NEAR SHORE.

A BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IS ISSUED WHEN THREATS SUCH AS RIP
CURRENTS...LONGSHORE CURRENTS...SNEAKER WAVES AND OTHER HAZARDS
CREATE LIFE-THREATENING CONDITIONS IN THE SURF ZONE. SWIM NEAR A
LIFEGUARD. IF CAUGHT IN A RIP CURRENT, RELAX AND FLOAT. DON`T
SWIM AGAINST THE CURRENT. IF ABLE, SWIM IN A DIRECTION FOLLOWING
