COASTAL HAZARD MESSAGE FOR PA...NJ...DE...AND MD
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MOUNT HOLLY NJ
823 PM EDT THU SEP 21 2017

...A MODERATE OR HIGH RISK FOR THE FORMATION OF DANGEROUS RIP
CURRENTS IS EXPECTED THROUGH AT LEAST THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK...

.SWELLS FROM JOSE ARE STILL MAKING IT DANGEROUS TO SWIM OFF OUR
NEW JERSEY AND DELAWARE BEACHES, DESPITE THE PLEASURE OF ABOVE
NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND STILL WARM OCEAN WATERS. FOLLOW THE ADVICE
OF LOCAL OFFICIALS AND FOR A SAFETY BEST PRACTICE, SUGGEST ONLY
VENTURING ANKLE DEEP INTO THE WATER. THOSE WATERS WILL PROBABLY
GET ROUGHER LATE THIS WEEKEND OR EARLY NEXT WEEK WHEN LONG PERIOD
AND SLOWLY BUILDING SWELLS FROM HURRICANE MARIA ARRIVE. THESE WILL
CREATE A SOMEWHAT CHAOTIC MIX OF SURF ON OUR BEACHES AS THE SWELLS
FROM MARIA MIX WITH THE SLOWLY DECAYING SWELLS OF WHAT WAS TROPICAL
CYCLONE JOSE.
