...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK CONTINUES...

.HURRICANE CRISTOBAL IS FORECAST TO TRACK WELL TO THE SOUTHEAST
AND EAST OF THE DELAWARE AND NEW JERSEY COASTS TONIGHT AND THURSDAY.
HOWEVER, LONG PERIOD SWELLS WILL CONTINUE TO SPREAD OUTWARD FROM
THE STORM AND THEY WILL AFFECT THE DELAWARE AND NEW JERSEY BEACHES
THROUGH TONIGHT, AND EVEN ON THURSDAY.

* LOCATIONS...THE NEW JERSEY SHORE AND THE DELAWARE BEACHES.

* RISK OF RIP CURRENTS...HIGH.

* SURF HEIGHT...3 TO 5 FEET.

* IMPACTS...BEACH PATROLS REPORTED SWIMMING RESTRICTIONS AT
  SEVERAL OF THE NEW JERSEY AND DELAWARE BEACHES TODAY. THE SWELLS
  AND ASSOCIATED RIP CURRENTS WILL INCREASE FURTHER THROUGH
  TONIGHT.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

THE RISK OF DROWNING WILL BE MAGNIFIED IF OPTING TO SWIM AFTER
LIFEGUARDS GO OFF DUTY.

A HIGH RISK OF RIP CURRENTS IMPLIES THAT WIND AND/OR WAVE
CONDITIONS WILL SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT OF VERY STRONG RIP
CURRENTS. THESE RIP CURRENTS WILL BE LIFE THREATENING TO ANYONE
WHO ENTERS THE SURF.

RIP CURRENTS ARE POWERFUL CHANNELS OF WATER FLOWING QUICKLY AWAY
FROM SHORE. THEY OCCUR MOST OFTEN AT LOW SPOTS OR BREAKS IN THE
SANDBAR AND IN THE VICINITY OF STRUCTURES SUCH AS GROINS, JETTIES
AND PIERS. HEED THE ADVICE OF LIFEGUARDS AND THE BEACH PATROL. PAY
ATTENTION TO FLAGS AND POSTED SIGNS.
