Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central South Carolina
and East Central Georgia
National Weather Service Columbia SC
241 AM EST Sun Dec 17 2017

.DISCUSSION...The center of the surface ridge will shift offshore
through the day, allowing winds to return to a more southerly
direction by the afternoon. With this change in wind direction,
moisture will begin returning into the region ahead of an
approaching system tonight. Expecting an increase in rain chances
Sunday night into Monday, although coverage and amounts may still
be somewhat limited. Minimum RH rises throughout the period. Transport
winds will be southwesterly at less than 10 mph. Expect dispersion to
be very poor beneath the nightly inversion. Increasing moist flow, along
with warmer air and spotty rainfall, may allow for an increase in fog
potential Monday in the CSRA and S. Midlands. A warmer and wetter
pattern sets up mid-week with a stronger low pressure system.
