Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Northern Alabama
National Weather Service Huntsville AL
529 AM CST Mon Feb 20 2017

.DISCUSSION...
High-level cloud cover and southeasterly winds will both
increase across the region today ahead of an approaching
storm system. Despite the increase in clouds, afternoon
temperatures will still warm into the mid/upper 70s resulting
in afternoon RH values of 35-45%. Low-level moisture and
cloud cover will increase late tonight, with widespread but
fairly light rainfall expected on Tuesday. Mixing heights
in the 2500-3000 ft range and transport winds around 10-15
mph will lead to fair smoke dispersion today. However, an
increase in both parameters will lead to greater dispersion
rates on Tuesday. For the remainder of the forecast period,
a warm and humid weather pattern will persist this week, with
strong southwest winds anticipated on Friday. A stronger cold
front will push across the region on Saturday morning preceded
by showers and a few thunderstorms Friday night. Afternoon RH
will fall into the 25-35% range this weekend in the wake of
the cold front.

Fog potential over the next few days: Areas of fog will be
possible Tuesday night, in addition to drizzle and low clouds.

Potential for Red Flag Conditions: Critical RH values may occur
this weekend, but 20-ft. winds will likely not meet criteria.
