Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Northern Alabama
National Weather Service Huntsville AL
304 AM CST Wed Feb 21 2018

.DISCUSSION...

Unseasonably warm and moist air will remain in place through at
least Saturday. A cold front will briefly enter far northwest
Alabama late this afternoon or evening, then retreat back to the
north tonight into Thursday. Showers and a few thunderstorms will
occur along and near this front late today and tonight, while
areas further southeast across central into northeast Alabama will
have much lower rain chances through Friday.

Record breaking warm temperatures are possible again today as
gusty southerly flow persists. A strong cold front will sweep
through the region on Saturday and Saturday night, bringing a
round of potentially strong thunderstorms.

With the southerly flow, afternoon peak mixing heights will
reach above 5000 ft agl today and Thursday. Generally good to
good smoke dispersion is expected. Transport winds of 15-30 mph
are forecast today, with 10-20 mph on Thursday.

Fog potential over the next few days: Fog is not anticipated.

Potential for Red Flag Conditions: Red Flag conditions are not
anticipated over the next several days.
