Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Northern Alabama
National Weather Service Huntsville AL
420 AM CDT Fri Oct 20 2017

.DISCUSSION...

Surfaced high pressure centered across the southern Appalachians
will control the weather into Saturday. Dry conditions with daily
high/low temperatures remaining above seasonable norms are in the
forecast. The proximity of this surface high will result in light
winds today, which will produce Poor smoke dispersion rates today.
The high should shift to the east somewhat on Saturday, with smoke
dispersion rates somewhat improved into the Fair to Generally
Good range.

A storm system to the west will approach northern Alabama, and
bring chances of showers and thunderstorms to the forecast
starting on Sunday. Unsettled weather will continue on Monday and
Tuesday, before showers with the system exit to the east.

Fog potential over the next few days: patchy overnight fog
formation is possible, mainly within sheltered locations and
near bodies of water. Any fog that forms should dissipate shortly
after daybreak.

Potential for Red Flag Conditions: minimum relative humidity values
will be reduced to around 30 percent this afternoon for a couple of
hours. Light winds should help minimize fire spread and growth.
