FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LOS ANGELES/OXNARD CA
930 AM PDT SAT JUL 4 2015

...ELEVATED FIRE DANGER EACH AFTERNOON ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS AND ANTELOPE VALLEY
THROUGH EARLY NEXT WEEK DUE TO GUSTY ONSHORE WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITIES...

.DISCUSSION...A WEAK UPPER LEVEL LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM OFF THE COAST
WILL BRING STRENGTHENING ONSHORE FLOW TO THE REGION OVER THE WEEKEND...WITH
LITTLE CHANGE INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK. THE MARINE LAYER WILL CONTINUE TO DEEPEN
OVER THE NEXT 24 HOURS...ALLOWING FOR NIGHT AND MORNING LOW CLOUDS AND FOG TO
SPREAD INLAND INTO MOST VALLEY LOCATIONS. HUMIDITIES IN COASTAL AND VALLEY AREAS
WILL GENERALLY BE MODERATED BY THE MARINE LAYER INFLUENCE...HOWEVER MOUNTAIN AND
DESERT LOCATIONS WILL REMAIN RATHER DRY...WITH HUMIDITIES FALLING INTO THE TEENS
AND 20S. THERE WILL BE GUSTY ONSHORE WINDS EACH AFTERNOON AND EVENING ACROSS THE
INTERIOR VALLEYS...MOUNTAINS...AND ANTELOPE VALLEY WHERE GUSTS WILL GENERALLY
RANGE BETWEEN 25 AND 35 MPH. ISOLATED GUSTS AS HIGH AS 45 MPH CAN BE EXPECTED IN
THE FOOTHILLS OF THE ANTELOPE VALLEY. THE COMBINATION OF CONTINUED LOW HUMIDITIES
AND GUSTY ONSHORE WINDS EACH AFTERNOON AND EVENING WILL BRING ELEVATED FIRE DANGER
TO THE MOUNTAINS AND ANTELOPE VALLEY...ESPECIALLY ALONG THE HIGHWAY 14 CORRIDOR.
BRIEF CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS CAN BE EXPECTED ACROSS THE ANTELOPE VALLEY
EACH AFTERNOON THROUGH EARLY NEXT WEEK. THERE WILL BE SOME AFTERNOON CLOUD
BUILDUPS OVER THE LOCAL MOUNTAINS THIS AFTERNOON AND AGAIN SUNDAY AFTERNOON DUE
TO SOME RESIDUAL MOISTURE AND INSTABILITY. ADDITIONAL COOLING CAN BE EXPECTED
AROUND THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK AS ONSHORE FLOW AND MARINE LAYER DEPTH CONTINUE
TO INCREASE AS THE UPPER LOW MOVES INTO SOUTHWEST CALIFORNIA.
