FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR WEST VIRGINIA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CHARLESTON WV
1241 AM EST SAT FEB 28 2015

.DISCUSSION...
THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY 2015 IS ENDING APPROPRIATELY...THAT IS COLD. A
HIGH PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL THEN BUILD IN TONIGHT AND LINGER INTO THE
LAST DAY OF THE MONTH. HOWEVER...CLOUDS INCREASE FROM SOUTHWEST TO
NORTHEAST EARLY SATURDAY...AS MILDER AIR RETURNS ALOFT. DRY
CONDITIONS SHOULD CONTINUE...WITH AFTERNOON TEMPERATURE NOT QUITE AS
COLD.

AS THE HIGH PRESSURE EXITS NORTHEAST OF THE AREA...A WARM FRONT WILL
APPROACH FROM THE SOUTH TO BRING WARMER TEMPERATURES AND CHANCES OF
RAIN ACROSS THE LOWLANDS SUNDAY. HOWEVER...SNOW SHOWERS WILL STILL
POSSIBLE ACROSS PORTIONS OF SOUTHEAST OHIO AND THE WEST VIRGINIA
NORTHEAST MOUNTAINS SUNDAY. A COLD FRONT WILL FOLLOW...WITH BETTER
CHANCES FOR PRECIPITATION CHANGING TO A MIX OR ALL SNOW LATER SUNDAY
INTO SUNDAY NIGHT. ALL SNOW SHOWERS WILL EXIT THE EASTERN MOUNTAINS
MONDAY.

ANOTHER SYSTEM WILL MOVE INTO THE AREA LONG ABOUT TUESDAY THROUGH
THURSDAY. PRECIPITATION MAY INITIALLY START OUT AS A WINTRY MIX ON
TUESDAY...BEFORE TRANSITIONING TO RAIN...POSSIBLY HEAVY AT TIMES.
THE HEAVIEST RAIN LOOKS TO OCCUR ACROSS PARTS OF THE WEST VIRGINIA
LOWLANDS...NORTHEAST KENTUCKY...AND SOUTHEAST OHIO. AREA CREEKS AND
STREAMS WILL NEED TO BE MONITORED DURING THIS PERIOD FOR POTENTIAL
FLOODING ISSUES.

A COLD FRONT WILL SWEEP ACROSS THE AREA WEDNESDAY NIGHT OR
THURSDAY...CHANGING ANY LINGERING PRECIPITATION TO SNOW. COLDER
TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE WEEK.
