HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL DISCUSSION
NWS ALASKA PACIFIC RIVER FORECAST CENTER ANCHORAGE AK

...FLOOD POTENTIAL...

SEVERAL DAYS OF RAINFALL FOR THE WESTERN SUSITNA RIVER VALLEY...
WHICH INCLUDES THE YENTNA...SKWENTNA AND CHULITNA RIVERS... WILL
RESULT IN SIGNIFICANTLY RISING LEVELS WITH LOCAL MINOR FLOODING.

OCCASIONAL HEAVY RAINS OVER THE WESTERN PRINCE WILLIAM SOUND REGION
WILL RESULT IN RISING RIVERS AND STREAMS. HOWEVER... FLOODING IS
NOT EXPECTED FOR THE RESURRECTION RIVER NEAR SEWARD.

OTHERWISE... THE FLOOD POTENTIAL IS LOW FOR THE REST OF THE STATE.

...HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL DISCUSSION...

AN UPPER LEVEL TROUGH ALONG THE WEST COAST WILL GRADUALLY LOSE
AMPLITUDE BY THURSDAY. RIDGING WILL BE IN PLACE OVER MUCH OF ALASKA
BY FRIDAY. THE LAST SHORT WAVE WILL ROLL THROUGH SOUTH-CENTRAL AND
SOUTHEAST ALASKA WEDNESDAY INTO THURSDAY.

FOR TODAY AND TONIGHT... THE HEAVIEST RAIN WILL BE OVER SOUTH-
CENTRAL ALASKA WITH UP TO 2 INCHES. THE WESTERN MATSU VALLEY WILL
SEE UP TO 1.5 INCHES. FOR WEDNESDAY... ANOTHER 3 INCHES POSSIBLE
FOR THE PRINCE WILLIAM SOUND REGION. ANOTHER INCH POSSIBLE FOR THE
WESTERN MATSU VALLEY. ONE LAST RAINY DAY FOR THURSDAY. THE EASTERN
PRINCE WILLIAM SOUND REGION TO YAKUTAT WILL RECEIVE UP TO AN 1.5
INCHES.

THE 6 TO 10 DAY TEMPERATURE OUTLOOK HAS INCREASED PROBABILITIES OF
ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES FOR THE ENTIRE STATE... ESPECIALLY
SOUTHWEST.

THE 6 TO 10 DAY PRECIPITATION OUTLOOK HAS INCREASED PROBABILITIES OF
ABOVE NORMAL PRECIPITATION OVER MUCH OF THE WESTERN PORTION OF THE
STATE AND CENTRAL NORTH SLOPE.
