INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK TO BE HOT ACROSS THE INTERIOR NORTHWEST. THE
WARMEST LOCATIONS WILL BE BELOW 1000 FEET IN ELEVATION.

TUESDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PENDLETON HAS ISSUED A HEAT
ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM SATURDAY TO 9 PM PDT
TUESDAY.

* TEMPERATURE: HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL RUN BETWEEN 102 AND 108 EACH
  AFTERNOON IN THE LOWER BASIN OF WASHINGTON AND OREGON...THE
  EASTERN COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE FROM THE DALLES EASTWARD...AND THE
  LOWER YAKIMA VALLEY. OVERNIGHT LOWS AT MANY LOCATIONS WITHIN
  THESE AREAS WILL NOT FALL BELOW 65 DEGREES.

* TIMING: BEGINNING AROUND NOON ON SATURDAY AND RUNNING UNTIL AT
  LEAST EARLY EVENING ON TUESDAY.

* IMPACTS: THESE HOT CONDITIONS WILL BE OF MORE CONCERN TO THE
  ELDERLY AND THE VERY YOUNG. WHEN CONDUCTING OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
  DURING THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING BE CAUTIOUS AND DRINK PLENTY OF
  FLUIDS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS IF YOU WORK OR SPEND TIME OUTSIDE. WHEN
POSSIBLE, RESCHEDULE STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES TO EARLY MORNING OR
EVENING. KNOW THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF HEAT EXHAUSTION AND HEAT
STROKE. WEAR LIGHT WEIGHT AND LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING WHEN
POSSIBLE AND DRINK PLENTY OF WATER.

TO REDUCE RISK DURING OUTDOOR WORK THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND
HEALTH ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS SCHEDULING FREQUENT REST BREAKS
IN SHADED OR AIR CONDITIONED ENVIRONMENTS. ANYONE OVERCOME BY
HEAT SHOULD BE MOVED TO A COOL AND SHADED LOCATION. HEAT STROKE
IS AN EMERGENCY - CALL 911.
