RAIN FELL OVER SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND DURING THE PAST 24 HOURS
ENDING AT 8AM THIS MORNING. RAINFALL TOTALS WERE ABOUT A HALF
INCH OR LESS AT MOST LOCATIONS.

MOIST ONSHORE FLOW AROUND LOW PRESSURE WELL OFFSHORE OF CAPE
COD AND HIGH PRESSURE OVER SOUTHEASTERN CANADA WILL PERSIST
ACROSS SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND INTO THURSDAY. THIS WILL KEEP
SHOWERS OVER THE AREA TODAY...TONIGHT AND INTO EARLY
THURSDAY. RAINFALL TOTALS OF AN INCH OR MORE ARE EXPECTED ON
CAPE COD...WITH TOTALS FALLING OFF TO THE NORTH AND WEST.

HIGH PRESSURE OVER SOUTHEASTERN CANADA WILL NUDGE SOUTH OVER
NEW ENGLAND ON THURSDAY DRAWING IN DRIER AIR. THESE DRYING
CONDITIONS WILL CONTINUE INTO FRIDAY.

RIVER RESPONSES FROM THE PAST 24-HOUR RAINFALL HAVE BEEN
GENERALLY MUTED IN SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND. THE ADDITIONAL
RAINFALL OF UP TO 1 INCH OVER THE NEXT 24 HOURS IS EXPECTED
TO RESULT IN MINOR RIVER RISES OF 1 FOOT OR LESS IN PARTS OF
SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND AND THE SOUTHERN MERRIMACK BASIN.
ELSEWHERE IN THE REGION...RIVERS WILL CONTINUE THEIR RECEDING
OR STEADY ELEVATION TRENDS.

ACCORDING TO THE USGS WATER WATCH WEBPAGE...7-DAY AVERAGE
STREAMFLOWS ACROSS MOST OF THE NORTHEAST REGION ARE RUNNING AT
NORMAL TO MUCH BELOW NORMAL LEVELS FOR THE BEGINNING OF OCTOBER.
IN SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND...RIVER FLOWS ARE ESPECIALLY LOW WITH
SOME RIVERS REPORTING NEAR RECORD LOW LEVELS FOR THIS POINT IN
THE YEAR.

THESE FORECASTS INCLUDE 24 HOUR PRECIPITATION FOR THE PERIOD ENDING
AT 8 AM TODAY...AND FORECAST PRECIPITATION THROUGH 8 AM TOMORROW.
