DAILY RIVER AND LAKE SUMMARY
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE COLUMBIA SC
1148 AM EDT THU APR 17 2014

...ALL RIVER FORECAST POINTS WERE BELOW FLOOD STAGE THIS MORNING...

STRONG HIGH PRESSURE PUSHING DRY AIR DOWN FROM THE NORTHEAST STATES
WILL WEAKEN SOMEWHAT ON FRIDAY...AS LOW PRESSURE TAKES SHAPE DOWN IN
THE EASTERN GULF OF MEXICO. AS A RESULT...A COOL BUT INCREASINGLY
MOIST AIRFLOW WITH THE SUPPORT OF UPPER LEVEL ENERGY WILL SPREAD
CLOUDS AND EVENTUALLY RAIN OVER AREA RIVER BASINS.

THE MOST ACTIVE PERIOD FOR RAIN APPEARS TO BE FRIDAY NIGHT WHEN THE
LOW SLOWLY INTENSIFIES AND MOVES ACROSS NORTHERN FLORIDA. RAINFALL
TOTALS FROM ONE-QUARTER TO THREE-QUARTERS OF AN INCH ARE POSSIBLE...
WITH HIGHEST AMOUNTS LIKELY OVER THE MIDDLE SAVANNAH AND EDISTO
RIVER BASINS.

WATER RELEASES FROM POWER-GENERATING ACTIVITY UPSTREAM...COMBINED
WITH SOME LOCAL RUNOFF FROM RAINFALL...WOULD SUPPORT MOSTLY MINOR
STAGE RISES ON AREA RIVERS THROUGH SATURDAY. NO FLOODING IS EXPECTED
AT THIS TIME.
