...TROPICAL STORM CHAN-HOM TO PASS NORTH OF POHNPEI AND CHUUK...

TROPICAL STORM CHAN-HOM (09W) IS CENTERED AT ABOUT 10N159E...WHICH
IS ABOUT 235 MILES NORTH-NORTHWEST OF POHNPEI AND ABOUT 535 MILES
EAST-NORTHEAST OF CHUUK. CHAN-HOM IS MOVING TO THE NORTHWEST AT 5
MPH WITH MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS OF 40 MPH. TROPICAL STORM CHAN-HOM
IS EXPECTED TO STAY WELL NORTH OF CHUUK AND POHNPEI AS IT HEADS
TOWARD THE MARIANA ISLANDS.

FOR CHUUK  AND POHNPEI STATES...SCATTERED TO NUMEROUS SHOWERS AND A
FEW THUNDERSTORMS ALONG WITH GUSTY SOUTHWEST TO WEST WINDS BETWEEN
20 AND 30 MPH ARE EXPECTED...MAINLY NORTH OF 5N...THROUGH FRIDAY.
SEA CONDITIONS WILL REMAIN HAZARDOUS FOR SMALL CRAFT. COMBINED SEAS
ARE EXPECTED TO RANGE BETWEEN 9 AND 12 FEET WITH HIGHER SEAS UP TO
15 FT FARTHER TO THE NORTH. ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 3 TO 7
INCHES ARE LIKELY FOR MOST ISLANDS THROUGH FRIDAY. THE THREAT OF
FLOODING AND MUDSLIDES WILL CONTINUE FOR THE HIGH ISLANDS.

OTHERWISE...ACTIVE MONSOON WEATHER CONTINUES ACROSS MICRONESIA WITH
LOW-LEVEL CIRCULATIONS NORTHWEST OF KOROR AND YAP AT 12N131E AND
NORTHWEST OF CHUUK AT 9N149E AND SOUTHEAST OF MAJURO AT 5N176E.
LARGE AREAS OF SCATTERED SHOWERS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS WITH
GUSTY WINDS ARE ASSOCIATED WITH ALL THESE CIRCULATIONS. WESTERLY
MONSOON WINDS OF 15 TO 30 MPH AND LARGE WAVES OF 7 TO 10 FEET AND UP
TO 12 FEET WILL CONTINUE ACROSS MUCH OF MICRONESIA THIS WEEK. SEA
CONDITIONS WILL BE HAZARDOUS FOR THE OPERATION OF SMALL CRAFT AND
DANGEROUS FOR INTER-ISLAND TRAVEL.
