URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...A SIGNIFICANT WINTER STORM WILL AFFECT THANKSGIVING TRAVEL...

.LOW PRESSURE WILL MOVE UP THE COAST TODAY. THIS WILL SPREAD SNOW
NORTHWARD INTO MAINE AND NEW HAMPSHIRE DURING THE LATE MORNING AND
AFTERNOON HOURS. THE SNOW MAY BEGIN AS A BRIEF PERIOD OF RAIN OVER
SOUTHERN AND COASTAL AREAS...BUT A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF THE
PRECIPITATION WILL FALL AS SNOW. SNOW WILL BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES
IN THE AFTERNOON INTO THE EVENING... ACCUMULATING AT RATES UP TO
ONE INCH PER HOUR.

BECAUSE OF THE EXPECTED INTENSITY AND ACCUMULATION OF SNOW...
DRIVING WILL BECOME TREACHEROUS ON ONE OF THE BUSIEST TRAVEL DAYS
OF THE YEAR. TRAVEL IS NOT RECOMMENDED DURING THESE TIMES...AND
TRAVELERS SHOULD BE AT THEIR DESTINATION BY WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON
TO AVOID HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GRAY HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM
WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM THIS
AFTERNOON TO 7 AM EST THURSDAY. THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS NO
LONGER IN EFFECT.

* HAZARD TYPES...SNOW.

* ACCUMULATIONS...6 TO 10 INCHES OF SNOW.

* TIMING...SNOW WILL BEGIN WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON ACROSS THE
  NORTHERN MOUNTAINS. IT MAY BECOME HEAVIER FOR A TIME WEDNESDAY
  EVENING...BEFORE TAPERING OFF EARLY THURSDAY.

* IMPACTS...SNOW WILL CAUSE SLIPPERY ROAD CONDITIONS ON A VERY
  BUSY TRAVEL DAY. IF TRAVEL IS NECESSARY...ALLOW FOR EXTRA TIME
  AND PLENTY OF STOPPING DISTANCE BETWEEN VEHICLES.

* WINDS...NORTH 10 TO 15 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 20 MPH.

* VISIBILITIES...ONE QUARTER MILE OR LESS AT TIMES.

  HAMPSHIRE AND WESTERN MAINE. SNOW WILL BECOME HEAVY FOR A TIME
  WEDNESDAY EVENING...BEFORE TAPERING OFF EARLY THURSDAY.

* IMPACTS...SNOW WILL CAUSE TREACHEROUS ROAD CONDITIONS ON A VERY
  BUSY TRAVEL DAY. SNOWFALL RATES OF OVER 1 INCH PER HOUR ARE
  POSSIBLE. ADDITIONALLY... HEAVY WET SNOW NEAR THE COAST MAY
  CAUSE SCATTERED POWER OUTAGES.
