...WINTER STORM TO IMPACT THE REGION THROUGH THE MIDDLE PART OF
THE WEEK...

.A SLOW MOVING LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL IMPACT THE REGION TODAY
THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING...BRINGING PERIODS OF SNOW SHOWERS TO THE
AREA...ALONG WITH BITTER COLD AIR. SNOW SHOWERS WILL TO CONTINUE
OVER THE AREA TODAY AND TONIGHT...THEN TAPER OFF FROM THE
SOUTHWEST ON WEDNESDAY. IN THE VALLEY...MOSTLY LIGHT SNOW
ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED. HOWEVER...IN THE EAST TENNESSEE
MOUNTAINS...MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW IS EXPECTED ON AND OFF THROUGH
WEDNESDAY NIGHT...WITH STORM TOTAL AMOUNTS OF 6 TO 10 INCHES
EXPECTED ALONG THE MOUNTAIN PEAKS ABOVE 4000 FEET...WITH A FEW
HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE ALONG THE PEAKS OF THE SMOKIES.

ADDITIONALLY...VERY COLD WIND CHILL TEMPERATURES WILL ACCOMPANY
THE SNOWS WITH READINGS IN THE SINGLE DIGITS IN THE VALLEY AND AS

  WILL BE VERY ELEVATION DEPENDENT...WITH THE LOWER ELEVATIONS
  BELOW 4000 FEET RECEIVING 1 TO 4 INCHES...AND THE MOUNTAIN
  PEAKS ABOVE 4000 FEET 5 TO 10 INCHES...WITH LOCALLY HIGHER
  AMOUNTS. ADDITIONALLY...WIND CHILL READINGS WILL BE TURNING
  SHARPLY COLDER WITH READINGS -5 TO -15 FROM TUESDAY EVENING
  THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING.

A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER
CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING.  SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF
SNOW ARE FORECAST THAT WILL MAKE TRAVEL DANGEROUS. IN ADDITION...
SNOWFALL INTENSITIES WILL BE HEAVY ENOUGH TO SUBSTANTIALLY REDUCE
VISIBILITIES AT TIMES. TRAVEL IS DISCOURAGED. IF TRAVEL IS
UNAVOIDABLE...KEEP AN EXTRA FLASHLIGHT...FOOD...AND WATER IN YOUR
VEHICLE IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY.

A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MEANS THAT COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS WILL
COMBINE TO GENERATE VERY LOW WIND CHILLS. THESE CONDITIONS CAN
RESULT IN FROST BITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA OR EVEN DEATH IF
