URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...Mountain Snow Today into Monday...

.Pacific storm will spread snow into the mountains of Western
Plumas and the Sierra Nevada this afternoon into evening with the
heaviest snow expected tonight into early Monday morning. Lingering
snow showers forecast for Monday. Lighter snow accumulations
possible in the higher mountains of the Coastal Range and Shasta
county today into early Monday.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 5 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO
5 AM PDT MONDAY...

The National Weather Service in Sacramento has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for snow, which is in effect from 5 PM this
afternoon to 5 AM PDT Monday.

* TIMING...Snow possible by this afternoon with the heaviest snow
  expected tonight, turning to snow showers by early Monday
  morning.

* SNOW AMOUNTS...3 to 6 inches possible above 4000 feet with
  locally up to 11 inches over Lassen Peak. Light snow
  accumulations may occur down to 3500 feet Monday morning.

* SNOW LEVEL...5000 to 5500 feet tonight lowering to 3500 to 4000
  feet by Monday morning.

* MAIN IMPACT...Slick roads with reduced visibilities. Travel
  delays and chain controls may also occur.

* OTHER IMPACTS...South to Southwest wind gusts up to 30 mph over
  higher terrain.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow
covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while
driving.

Weather Advisory for snow, which is in effect from 8 PM this
evening to 8 AM PDT Monday.

* TIMING...Snow possible by early evening with the heaviest snow
  expected later tonight into Monday morning.

* SNOW AMOUNTS...3 to 6 inches possible above 5000 feet with
  locally up to 10 inches over mountain peaks.

* SNOW LEVEL...6000 to 6500 feet this evening, lowering to 4000 to
  4500 feet Monday morning. Light snow accumulations may occur
  down to 4000 feet Monday morning.

* MAIN IMPACT...Slick roads with reduced visibilities. Travel
  delays and chain controls may also occur.

* OTHER IMPACTS...South to Southwest wind gusts up to 40 mph over higher
  terrain.
