Regional Weather Summary for the High Plains
National Weather Service Goodland KS
257 AM MDT Thu Apr 18 2024

Over the past 24 hours, the Tri State area has seen daytime highs
top off in a range from the upper 70s to the lower 80s. Lows
during this time ranged in the mid to upper 30s. Most of the
region remained dry yesterday, but there were a few spots that
received a trace of rain. Yesterday evening into this morning,
strong northerly winds have impacted the area. Many reports of
speeds in the 30s and 40s, with a handful of reports of brief 50
to 55 mph gusts in some locales.

OUTLOOK... Strong northerly winds will taper down over the area
by the afternoon hours, giving way to precipitation chances for
the region starting tonight through the first half of the upcoming
weekend. Most of the precipitation will fall as rain, but colder
air Friday night into Saturday morning will have rain changing to
light snow with some light accumulation, up to an inch. The main
focus is for areas west of Highway 25 and north of the
Interstate, with Yuma county seeing best chances for any
accumulation.

For Sunday onward, dry weather on this day will give way to
chances for showers and some storms that evening and throughout
the upcoming week. 50s for highs today and Friday give way to 40s
on Saturday, followed by a warming trend next week with 70s and
80s by next Wednesday and Thursday.
