OPEN LAKE FORECAST for Lake Michigan

FOR WATERS BEYOND FIVE NAUTICAL MILES OF SHORE ON Lake Michigan.

Waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which
is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the
average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will
occasionally be encountered.

.SYNOPSIS...High pressure of 30.2 inches over Illinois this
morning will drift to the Ohio River Valley by this evening.
Meanwhile, low pressure of 29.9 inches will move from Lake
Superior midday to the eastern Great Lakes by Sunday morning.
This will steer a cold front southward down the lake tonight,
providing a sharp wind shift to the north. High pressure of 30.1
inches will build southward over the lake late Sunday night and
Monday. Low pressure around 29.8 inches will then move eastward
through Ontario Tuesday night and Wednesday steering a slow
moving cold front over the lake sometime during the middle of next
week.

.TODAY...Southwest winds 10 to 15 kt increasing to 15 to 20 kt
late this morning. A few afternoon gusts to 25 kt. Chance of
showers and thunderstorms late this afternoon. Waves 1 to 3 ft
building to 3 to 5 ft by mid afternoon.
.TONIGHT...Southwest winds 10 to 20 kt veering sharply to north
15 to 25 kt late in the evening. Chance of gusty showers and
thunderstorms in the evening...then slight chance of showers and
thunderstorms early overnight. Waves 3 to 5 ft.
.SUNDAY...North winds 15 to 25 kt. Waves 4 to 6 ft occasionally
to 8 ft.
.SUNDAY NIGHT...North winds 15 to 25 kt becoming northeast 10 to
15 kt by overnight. Waves 3 to 5 ft subsiding to 2 to 4 ft.
.MONDAY...North winds 5 to 10 kt backing to southwest. Waves 1 to
3 ft.
.MONDAY NIGHT...South winds 10 to 15 kt becoming southwest. Waves
1 to 3 ft.
.TUESDAY...South winds 10 to 20 kt. Waves 2 to 4 ft.
.WEDNESDAY...South winds 10 to 15 kt becoming southeast. Chance

south 10 to 20 kt early this afternoon. Waves 1 to 3 ft.
.TONIGHT...Southwest winds 10 to 20 kt veering sharply to north
15 to 25 kt late. Chance of gusty showers and thunderstorms late
this evening and overnight. Waves 1 to 3 ft this evening building
to 2 to 4 ft overnight.
.SUNDAY...North winds 15 to 25 kt increasing to 30 kt by late
morning. Waves 4 to 7 ft occasionally to 9 ft.
.SUNDAY NIGHT...North winds to 30 kt becoming northeast 10 to
20 kt overnight. Waves 4 to 7 ft occasionally to 9 ft subsiding
to 3 to 6 ft occasionally to 8 ft overnight.
.MONDAY...Northeast winds 10 to 15 kt becoming north around 10 kt.
Waves 3 to 5 ft early subsiding to 1 to 3 ft.
.MONDAY NIGHT...East winds 5 to 10 kt veering to south. Waves
1 to 2 ft.
