OPEN LAKE FORECAST for Lake Michigan
National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan WI
852 PM CDT Mon Apr 29 2024

FOR WATERS BEYOND FIVE NAUTICAL MILES OF SHORE ON Lake Michigan.

Waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which
is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the
average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will
occasionally be encountered.

.SYNOPSIS...

Dense fog has ended across northern Lake Michigan this evening as
the cold front continues across the lake. Some isolated areas of
patchy fog may occur over the next few hours across far northern
Lake Michigan, but the overall fog threat has ended.

Low pressure of 29.7 inches across the Upper Peninsula of Michigan
continues to move northward this evening. A cold front associated
with the low is moving across Lake Michigan, shifting winds to
southwesterly and weakening. Light southwesterly winds will
continue on Tuesday as a surface ridge moves across the Great
Lakes region. By Tuesday evening, another area of low pressure of
29.5 inches will approach western Wisconsin, allowing for shower
and thunderstorm potential across the lake Tuesday night into
Wednesday morning. Winds will remain southerly as this low moves
through the Great Lakes region, and the low is expected to lift
north into Canada by Wednesday evening. Another region of low
pressure will then move northeast towards the Great Lakes from
the Great Plains on Thursday.
