...HEAVY RAINFALL AND FLOODING A CONCERN FOR TONIGHT THROUGH EARLY
SUNDAY MORNING...

A MOISTURE RICH AIR MASS OVER CENTRAL MISSOURI AND SOUTHERN
ILLINOIS IS EXPECTED TO ARRIVE ACROSS NORTHERN ILLINOIS AND
NORTHWEST INDIANA LATER TODAY AND REMAIN IN PLACE THROUGH SUNDAY.
ASSOCIATED WITH THIS AIR MASS WILL BE A FRONTAL BOUNDARY THAT WILL
SETUP OVER CENTRAL IOWA AND IS EXPECTED TO STRETCH EAST THROUGH
NORTHERN ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA LATE THIS AFTERNOON
THROUGH TONIGHT. THIS BOUNDARY IS EXPECTED TO BECOME THE FOCUS
FOR SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS TO DEVELOP LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND
PERSIST THROUGH EARLY SUNDAY MORNING FOR THE REGION. SOME OF THE
THUNDERSTORMS LATE THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH TONIGHT MAY PRODUCE VERY
HEAVY RAIN AND SLOWLY SLIDE SOUTHEAST. CURRENT INDICATIONS ARE
THAT RAINFALL TOTALS WILL BE IN EXCESS OF ONE AND A HALF INCHES
FOR MANY LOCATIONS...AND A FEW LOCATIONS NORTH OF A LASALLE TO
CYSTAL LAKE LINE SEEING UP TO TWO INCHES OF RAIN. IF STORMS ARE
SLOW MOVING THIS EVENING...RAINFALL TOTALS COULD BE LOCALLY
HIGHER.

MANY STREAMS CONTINUE TO EXPERIENCE INCREASED FLOWS...AND WITH THE
POTENTIAL FOR HEAVY RAINFALL IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME...THIS
COULD LEAD TO INCREASED FLOODING CONCERNS.
