416 AM CDT MON AUG 25 2014 /516 AM EDT MON AUG 25 2014/

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.

THE HIGHEST HEAT INDEX VALUES OF THE SUMMER THUS FAR ARE
ANTICIPATED TODAY. HEAT INDEX READINGS OVER 100 DEGREES ARE
EXPECTED ACROSS THE ENTIRE AREA...WITH THE HIGHEST READINGS OF
105 TO 109 EXPECTED SOUTH OF A ROCHELLE TO KANKAKEE LINE.

  WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:

ISOLATED TO SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS...SOME COULD PRODUCE:
    TORRENTIAL RAINFALL AND FLASH FLOODING.
    FREQUENT CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING.
    WIND GUSTS OVER 40 MPH.
    SMALL HAIL.

  AREAS AFFECTED AND TIMING:

THERE IS A CHANCE FOR ISOLATED TO SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS
NORTHERN ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA TODAY...GENERALLY ALONG
  AND NORTH OF INTERSTATE 80.

  DISCUSSION:

ONGOING THUNDERSTORMS FROM NORTHWEST MISSOURI TO CENTRAL IOWA MAY
BE ABLE TO HOLD TOGETHER AND AFFECT PORTIONS OF NORTHERN
ILLINOIS INTO EARLY AFTERNOON. LOW CHANCES WILL THEN EXPAND
ACROSS PORTIONS OF NORTHWEST INDIANA THIS AFTERNOON. IT IS NOT
CLEAR HOW EXTENSIVE COVERAGE WILL BE THROUGH THE DAY BUT AREAS
ALONG AND NORTH OF INTERSTATE 80 WILL HAVE A CHANCE FOR
THUNDERSTORMS WITH THE BEST CHANCE CLOSER TO THE WISCONSIN STATE
 LINE.

AN AIR QUALITY ACTION DAY IS IN EFFECT FOR FAR NORTHWEST INDIANA
THROUGH THIS EVENING.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY.

THERE IS A CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY. HEAVY
RAIN AND FLASH FLOODING WILL BE POSSIBLE WITH ANY THUNDERSTORMS
THAT DEVELOP...ESPECIALLY TUESDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

SPOTTER ACTIVATION IS NOT EXPECTED AT THIS TIME.
