HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK

406 PM CDT MON AUG 25 2014 /506 PM EDT MON AUG 25 2014/

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.

.DAY ONE...LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT.

  WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:

   THUNDERSTORMS...SOME COULD PRODUCE:
    TORRENTIAL RAINFALL AND FLASH FLOODING.
    WIND GUSTS OVER 60 MPH.
HAIL TO THE SIZE OF QUARTERS.
    FREQUENT CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING.

  AREAS AFFECTED AND TIMING:

AN AREA OF THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS AS OF 400
PM WILL MOVE SOUTHEAST THROUGH EARLY THIS EVENING. THESE WILL
HAVE POTENTIAL TO BE SEVERE AND LIKELY PRODUCE AT LEAST
TEMPORARY VERY HEAVY RAINFALL. MORE SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS ARE
  POSSIBLE LATE TONIGHT.

  DISCUSSION:

ONGOING THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS ARE FAVORED
TO DEVELOP SOUTHEASTWARD THROUGH EARLY THIS EVENING. DEEP
MOISTURE AND INSTABILITY WILL HELP SOME OF THESE STORMS TO BE
INTENSE WITH POSSIBLE ISOLATED DAMAGING WINDS. ALL STORMS WILL
PRODUCE TEMPORARY VERY HEAVY RAINFALL RATES...AND SOME OF THEM
COULD PRODUCE ENOUGH RAINFALL IN A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME FOR
FLASH FLOODING. LATE TONIGHT MAY SEE SCATTERED STORMS DEVELOP
ACROSS PARTS OF NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...ALTHOUGH CONFIDENCE ON
  THIS IS LOW.

AN AIR QUALITY ACTION DAY IS IN EFFECT FOR FAR NORTHWEST INDIANA
THROUGH THIS EVENING.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY.

THERE IS A CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY. HEAVY
RAIN AND FLASH FLOODING WILL BE POSSIBLE WITH ANY THUNDERSTORMS
THAT DEVELOP...ESPECIALLY TUESDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

SPOTTER ACTIVATION IS REQUESTED ACROSS THE WATCH AREA THROUGH
EARLY THIS EVENING.
