422 AM CDT THU AUG 21 2014 /522 AM EDT THU AUG 21 2014/

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.

  WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:

   SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS...SOME COULD PRODUCE:
   WIND GUSTS TO 60 MPH.
   PEA TO NICKEL SIZE HAIL.
HEAVY RAINFALL LEADING TO LOCALIZED FLOODING.
   FREQUENT CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING.

  AREAS AFFECTED AND TIMING:

SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE THIS MORNING
THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON ACROSS PORTIONS OF NORTHERN
   ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.

  DISCUSSION:

A WARM FRONT WAS LOCATED ACROSS NORTHERN MISSOURI STRETCHING
SOUTHEAST THROUGH CENTRAL ILLINOIS THIS MORNING. THIS FRONTAL
BOUNDARY HAS BECOME THE FOCAL POINT EARLY THIS MORNING FOR
SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS. AS ADDITIONAL MOISTURE POOLS ALONG
THIS BOUNDARY TODAY...COVERAGE AND INTENSITY TO THUNDERSTORMS
IS EXPECTED TO INCREASE. WITH A VERY WARM AND MOISTURE RICH
ATMOSPHERE...THUNDERSTORMS WILL EASILY BE ABLE TO PRODUCE
LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL...WHICH COULD LEAD TO LOCALIZED
FLOODING IF SEVERAL STORMS TRACK ACROSS THE SAME
AREAS REPEATEDLY. IN ADDITION...A FEW OF THE STRONGER STORMS
COULD PRODUCE WIND GUSTS UP TO 60 MPH AND SAMLL HAIL TODAY.

ADDITIONAL THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED LATER THIS EVENING.
SOME OF THESE THUNDERSTORMS COULD AGAIN PRODUCE LOCALLY HEAVY
RAINFALL...WHICH COULD LEAD TO LOCALIZED FLOODING CONCERNS.
