NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.

  WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:

AREAS OF DENSE FOG EARLY THIS MORNING.

   SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS...SOME COULD PRODUCE:
   PEA TO DIME SIZE HAIL.
   WIND GUSTS TO 50 MPH.
   FREQUENT CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING.
   LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL.

  AREAS AFFECTED AND TIMING:

EARLY THIS MORNING AREAS OF DENSE FOG HAS DEVELOPED...MAINLY
FOR ALL AREAS EXCEPT FAR NORTHEAST ILLINOIS. SHORTLY AFTER
DAYBREAK DENSE FOG IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN LIFTING.

THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP AROUND NOON TODAY ACROSS
EASTERN IOWA. THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO STEADILY INCREASE
IN COVERAGE AND SPREAD INTO NORTHERN ILLINOIS THIS AFTERNOON...AND
INTO NORTHWEST INDIANA THIS EVENING. THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO
CONTINUE THROUGH THE OVERNIGHT HOURS ACROSS ALL OF NORTHERN
   ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.

  DISCUSSION:

AN UPPER LEVEL SYSTEM OVER THE DAKOTAS THIS MORNING WILL SLOWLY
SLIDE SOUTHEAST TOWARDS THE GREAT LAKES REGION BY TONIGHT. AS
THIS SYSTEM APPROACHES THE REGION...SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS WILL
DEVELOP MIDDAY ACROSS EASTERN IOWA THEN INCREASE IN COVERAGE
THROUGHOUT THE AFTERNOON ACROSS NORTHERN ILLINOIS. THE ATMOSPHERE
WILL STEADILY MOISTEN LATE THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH TONIGHT...WHICH
WILL INCREASE THE POSSIBILITY FOR A FEW THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING
BRIEF HEAVY DOWNPOURS. A FEW OF THE STRONGEST STORMS MAY BE
CAPABLE OF PRODUCING SMALL HAIL ALONG WITH WIND GUSTS UP TO
50 MPH. ADDITIONAL THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED THROUGH THE
  OVERNIGHT HOURS.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY.

THERE WILL CONTINUE TO BE PERIODIC CHANCES FOR THUNDERSTORMS
TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY. THE BEST CHANCE FOR THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE
TUESDAY...AND AGAIN WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTO SATURDAY. HEAVY
RAINFALL COULD OCCUR WITH ANY THUNDERSTORMS THAT AFFECT THE AREA.
