...ABRUPT WIND SHIFT WITH COLD FRONT APPROACHING...

THE AREAS AFFECTED INCLUDE...
  NEARSHORE AND ADJACENT OPEN WATERS FROM WINTHROP HARBOR TO WILMETTE
HARBOR...

AT 945 PM CDT...DOPPLER RADAR AND OBSERVATIONS INDICATED A FRONT
WITH AN ABRUPT WIND SHIFT TO NORTHERLY. THIS FRONT WAS LOCATED ALONG
A LINE EXTENDING FROM 20 NM WEST OF MILWAUKEE TO SOUTH
MILWAUKEE...AND MOVING SOUTH AT 15 KNOTS. WINDS BEHIND THE FRONT
WILL LIKELY GUST TO 20 TO 25 KT FOR TWO OR THREE HOURS...THOUGH
BRIEF 30 KT GUSTS ARE POSSIBLE. THIS WILL SUPPORT A QUICK BUILDING
OF THE WAVES TO 3 TO 5 FT AND OCCASIONALLY 7 FT.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

MARINERS CAN EXPECT AN ABRUPT WIND SHIFT...AND GUSTY WINDS UP TO 25
AND POSSIBLY BRIEFLY TO 30 KNOTS...ALONG WITH LOCALLY HIGHER WAVES.
BOATERS SHOULD CONSIDER SEEKING SAFE HARBOR.
