...A LOOK BACK AT THE CLIMATE FOR THE MONTH OF OCTOBER 2014 FOR
CHICAGO AND ROCKFORD...

AT CHICAGO...THE AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS 60.6 DEGREES WHICH IS
2.7 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL. THE AVERAGE LOW TEMPERATURE WAS 43.4
DEGREES WHICH IS 0.6 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE
FOR THE MONTH WAS 52.0 DEGREES WHICH IS 0.5 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL.
DURING THE MONTH OF OCTOBER...2.48 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION WAS
RECORDED WHICH IS 0.67 INCHES BELOW NORMAL. ONE TENTH OF AN INCH OF
SNOW WAS RECORDED DURING THE MONTH...WHICH IS ONE TENTH OF AN INCH
BELOW THE NORMAL SNOWFALL FOR OCTOBER OF TWO TENTHS OF AN INCH.

THREE RECORDS WERE SET DURING THE MONTH OF OCTOBER 2014 AT CHICAGO.
ON OCTOBER 4...THE HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 47 DEGREES SET THE RECORD FOR
THE LOW MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE. THIS BROKE THE OLD RECORD OF 48 SET IN
1935. ALSO ON OCTOBER 4...THE DAILY MAXIMUM SNOWFALL WAS SET WHEN A
TRACE OF SNOW WAS RECORDED...WHICH IS THE FIRST TIME ANY SNOWFALL
WAS RECORDED FOR THAT DATE. THE THIRD RECORD SET IN THE MONTH WAS ON
OCTOBER 31...WHEN ONE TENTH OF AN INCH OF SNOW WAS RECORDED TO SET
THE DAILY MAXIMUM SNOWFALL. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS JUST A TRACE
LAST RECORDED IN 1993.

AT ROCKFORD...THE AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS 61.4 DEGREES WHICH
IS 1.3 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL. THE AVERAGE LOW TEMPERATURE WAS 41.2
DEGREES WHICH IS 0.5 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE
FOR THE MONTH WAS 51.3 DEGREES WHICH IS 0.4 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL.
DURING THE MONTH OF OCTOBER...2.69 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION WAS
RECORDED WHICH IS 0.02 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL. ONE TENTH OF AN INCH OF
SNOW WAS RECORDED DURING THE MONTH...WHICH IS THE NORMAL SNOWFALL
FOR OCTOBER.

THREE RECORDS WERE SET DURING THE MONTH OF OCTOBER 2014 AT ROCKFORD.
THE RECORD LOW MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE FOR OCTOBER 4 WAS SET WHEN THE
HIGH TEMPERATURE FOR THE DAY REACHED ONLY 49 DEGREES. THIS BROKE THE
OLD RECORD OF 50 DEGREES SET IN 1980 AND TIED IN 1988. ALSO ON
OCTOBER 4...THE DAILY MAXIMUM SNOWFALL WAS SET WHEN A TRACE OF SNOW
WAS RECORDED...WHICH IS THE FIRST TIME ANY SNOWFALL WAS RECORDED FOR
THAT DATE. THE THIRD RECORD SET IN THE MONTH WAS ON OCTOBER 31...
WHEN ONE TENTH OF AN INCH OF SNOW WAS RECORDED TO SET THE DAILY
MAXIMUM SNOWFALL. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS JUST A TRACE LAST RECORDED
IN 1935.
