THE DAY IS OFF TO A PARTLY TO MOSTLY CLOUDY AND MILD START...WITH
TEMPERATURES RANGING FROM THE MID 40S TO THE MID 50S. SOUTHERLY
WINDS GUSTING TO 30 TO 35 MPH BEHIND A WARM FRONT WILL USHER IN A
VERY WARM AND INCREASINGLY MOIST AIR MASS INTO THE REGION TODAY.
AFTERNOON HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL REACH INTO THE MID TO UPPER
70S...WITH A FEW LOCATIONS POSSIBLY APPROACHING 80 DEGREES. A FEW
SHOWERS OR STORMS COULD CLIP FAR NORTHERN ILLINOIS LATER THIS
MORNING...THEN A FEW STORMS ARE POSSIBLE MAINLY LATER THIS
AFTERNOON NORTH OF INTERSTATE 80...WITH A BETTER CHANCE THIS
EVENING. ANY THUNDERSTORMS THAT DEVELOP THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING
COULD BE STRONG TO SEVERE NORTH OF INTERSTATE 80 IN ILLINOIS.
ADDITIONAL SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE OVERNIGHT
TONIGHT MAINLY ACROSS NORTHERN ILLINOIS. IT WILL BE QUITE MILD FOR
MID APRIL WITH LOWS IN THE UPPER 50S AND LOWER 60S.

A STRONG STORM SYSTEM DEVELOPING OVER THE SOUTHERN PLAINS WILL
LIFT NORTHEAST AND BRING PERIODS OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS
AGAIN. VERY HEAVY RAINFALL THAT COULD CAUSE FLOODING OF LOW LYING
AREAS AND ALONG RIVERS AND STREAMS IS EXPECTED TO OCCUR LATE
SUNDAY AFTERNOON INTO SUNDAY NIGHT...WITH THE HIGHEST RAIN TOTALS
ACROSS NORTH CENTRAL AND NORTHWEST ILLINOIS. THERE WILL BE A LARGE
RANGE IN HIGH TEMPERATURES ON SUNDAY...FROM THE UPPER 50S NEAR THE
WISCONSIN BORDER TO THE UPPER 60S AND LOWER 70S SOUTH OF
INTERSTATE 80. MUCH COLDER AIR WILL MOVE IN ON THE BACKSIDE OF THE
STORM SUNDAY NIGHT...WITH SOME WET SNOW POSSIBLY MIXING IN ACROSS
FAR NORTHERN ILLINOIS AFTER MIDNIGHT. THE SYSTEM WILL DEPART
EAST ON MONDAY WITH SOME LINGERING MORNING RAIN...POSSIBLY RAIN OR
SNOW NORTH OF INTERSTATE 88. IT WILL BE WINDY AND UNSEASONABLY
COLD...WITH HIGHS ONLY IN THE LOWER AND MID 40S. TUESDAY WILL BE
PARTLY CLOUDY BUT AGAIN UNSEASONABLY COLD...WITH SIMILAR HIGHS TO
MONDAY. SOME LAKEFRONT LOCATIONS MAY NOT REACH 40 DEGREES.
