WEATHER SUMMARY FOR NORTHERN ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA

731 AM CDT SAT AUG 16 2014 /831 AM EDT SAT AUG 16 2014/

WEAK HIGH PRESSURE WAS OVER THE AREA THIS MORNING...WITH PARTLY TO
MOSTLY CLOUDY SKIES. TEMPERATURES AS OF 7 AM WERE IN THE LOWER AND
MID 60S. LOW PRESSURE OVER NORTHWESTERN MISSOURI WILL TRACK SLOWLY
SLOWLY SOUTHEAST TODAY INTO SUNDAY MORNING. THIS WILL PLACE THE
INCREASING CHANCES OF SHOWERS AND POSSIBLY A FEW STORMS MAINLY
SOUTH OF INTERSTATE 80...WITH JUST A FEW ISOLATED TO SCATTERED
SHOWERS POSSIBLE NORTH OF INTERSTATE 80. SKIES WILL BECOME MOSTLY
CLOUDY AREA WIDE...WITH HIGHS IN THE UPPER 70S TO LOWER 80S. A
BACK DOOR COLD FRONT WILL MOVE DOWN LAKE MICHIGAN TONIGHT...AND
COULD TOUCH OFF A FEW SHOWERS IN NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND EXTREME
NORTHWEST INDIANA AFTER MIDNIGHT. THE MORE ORGANIZED SHOWER
ACTIVITY TONIGHT WILL REMAIN WELL SOUTH OF INTERSTATE 80 CLOSER TO
THE LOW PRESSURE AREA. TEMPERATURES BY EARLY SUNDAY WILL BE IN THE
LOWER AND MID 60S.

THE COLD FRONT WILL CONTINUE TO WORK SOUTH ON SUNDAY...KEEPING
CHANCES FOR SHOWERS AND POSSIBLY A STORM OR TWO AGAIN MAINLY SOUTH
OF INTERSTATE 80. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL REACH THE MID AND UPPER
70S INLAND...BUT ONLY IN THE UPPER 60S TO LOWER 70S NEAR THE LAKE
DUE TO PERSISTENT ONSHORE WINDS. SKIES WILL BE MOSTLY CLOUDY
ACROSS THE AREA. A WARMER AND MORE ACTIVE PATTERN COULD TAKE SHAPE NEXT
WORK WEEK...WITH PERIODIC CHANCES FOR SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS
STARTING MAINLY MONDAY NIGHT. HIGHS ON MONDAY WILL REACH THE
UPPER 70S TO AROUND AROUND INLAND AND LOWER AND MID 70S NEAR THE
LAKE.
