Fire Weather Planning Forecast For Southwestern California
National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard CA
333 PM PDT Tue Apr 23 2024

.DISCUSSION...
A deep marine layer pattern has settled in and will persist through at
least Friday. Moist and cool conditions will continue on the coastal
side of the mountains, with patchy drizzle expected each morning.
Dry air will remain over the higher mountains, but will be less dry and
expansive than earlier this week. Southwest wind gusts to 20 to 40 mph
will form each afternoon and evening through Thursday over the
mountains and interior valleys, strongest over the Antelope Valley. A
weak low pressure system will push through the western United States
Thursday into Friday, which may enhance the drizzle into actual
showers. This will increase west to northwest flow over the region,
with gusts of 30 to 50 mph, strongest over coastal area and northern Los
Angeles County. These winds will weaken some over the weekend but the
flow pattern will remain with gusts lowering into the 20 to 35 mph
range.
