Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
903 PM MDT Fri Apr 26 2024

...A Red Flag Warning is in effect for portions of the far
southeast Colorado plains from noon to 7 PM Saturday...

.Discussion...

Widespread rain and snow with embedded thunderstorms will impact southern
CO late tonight through Saturday night. The heaviest precipitation
will fall north of highway 50 with several feet of snow possible across
Pikes Peak and the Rampart Range. Across the lower elevations, a good soaking
rain will be possible, especially for the El Paso county area with areas
of 1/2 inch or more will be possible along and north of highway 50.
However, gusty winds and low humidity will return across Baca county Saturday
afternoon where critical fire weather conditions are expected. Isolated
thunderstorms will develop across the southeast plains on Saturday where
one or two strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible.

Rain and snow will diminish Saturday night with drier and warmer weather
returning for most of next week. Another storm system could bring
another round of rain and snow showers to the region on Friday but there
is still considerable uncertainty on these details.

Dispersions on Saturday will range from poor to fair across northwest
portions of the district to good to excellent across the southeast. All areas
will drop into the poor category tomorrow night and return to good to
very good for Sunday.
