331 FNUS55 KPUB 010951 FWFPUB Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado National Weather Service Pueblo Co 351 AM MDT Wed May 1 2024 ...A Red Flag Warning remains in effect from noon until 9 PM MDT today for the San Luis Valley and portions of the southeast plains... ...A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for the San Luis Valley from Thursday afternoon through Thursday evening... .Discussion... Hot and dry conditions, combined with strong west to southwest winds, will produce critical fire weather conditions across portions of the area today. An upper level low pressure system will push across the northern Rockies today, bringing light snow to the higher elevations of fire zone 220 as well as isolated thunderstorms to the central mountains, the Palmer Divide and portions of the eastern plains. One or two of the storms near the Kansas may become strong late this afternoon and evening. Unsettled conditions are expected for Friday and Saturday, then drier and warmer weather returns for Sunday through Tuesday. Surface-based inversions will begin to break by 0900 this morning, with ventilation rates improving to Excellent for most locations between 1300 and 1400 this afternoon, and will remain such until 1900 this evening. Smoke dispersion for Thursday is expected to be slightly degraded, and slower to develop. --- thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds --- COZ220-012230- Upper Arkansas River Valley Including Lake County and Chaffee County- 351 AM MDT Wed May 1 2024 .TODAY...
