AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION FOR AMERICAN SAMOA AND INDEPENDENT SAMOA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PAGO PAGO AS
154 PM SST MON JUL 27 2015

.SHORT TERM...
TONIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT...SATELLITE IMAGERIES SHOW
SCATTERED LOW CLOUDS MOVING ACROSS THE ISLANDS. RAOB FROM THIS
AFTERNOON DEPICTS A STABLE PROFILE. MODELS SUGGEST THAT THE
SURFACE TROUGH TO THE NORTH WILL REMAIN NEARLY STATIONARY. HIGH
PRESSURE TO THE SOUTHEAST WILL CONTINUE TO MIGRATE EAST AND
SOUTHEAST. STRONG TRADES WILL PERSIST TONIGHT BEFORE SLIGHTLY
DROPPING TO BREEZY CONDITIONS ON TUESDAY NIGHT. SHOWERS WILL
REMAIN AT A MINIMUM AMOUNT OR ISOLATED DURING THE SHORT TERM
FORECAST.

.LONG TERM...
THURSDAY THROUGH MONDAY...ANOTHER HIGH PRESSURE APPROACHING FROM
THE SOUTHWEST WILL ONCE AGAIN ELEVATE TRADES TO STRONG AND GUSTY
CONDITIONS ON THURSDAY NIGHT. THESE STRONG TRADES WILL PERSIST
ACROSS THE ISLANDS THROUGH THE BEGINNING OF THE NEW WEEK. MODELS
ARE NOW DELAYING THE ARRIVAL OF THE SURFACE TROUGH ACROSS THE
ISLANDS TO SUNDAY. WILL KEEP SHOWERS AT A MINIMUM AMOUNT UNTIL A
FEW MORE MODEL RUNS AND INCREASE TRADES TO STRONG CONDITIONS
COMMENCING ON THURSDAY NIGHT.

&&

.MARINE...
SEAS OF 10 TO 13 FT WILL PERSIST TONIGHT BEFORE SUBSIDING 7 TO 9
FT ON TUESDAY NIGHT. ANOTHER STRONG HIGH PRESSURE WILL MAINTAIN
SEAS AT ROUGH LEVELS THROUGH THE WEEKEND. THEREFORE...HIGH SURFS
AND SMALL CRAFT ADVISORIES WILL PERSIST THROUGHOUT THE FORECAST.
