BALTIMORE MD...BALTIMORE-WASHINGTON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT...

THE MONTHLY AVERAGE TEMPERATURE WAS BELOW NORMAL. MONTHLY
PRECIPITATION WAS SLIGHTLY ABOVE NORMAL...BUT MONTHLY SNOWFALL WAS
WELL ABOVE NORMAL AND RANKED AS THE 3RD SNOWIEST JANUARY ON RECORD.
THIS IS ONLY THE 7TH TIME ON RECORD THAT THE MONTHLY SNOWFALL OF ANY
MONTH HAS REACHED OR EXCEEDED 30 INCHES.

BALTIMORE MD RECORDED ITS FIRST MEASURABLE SNOWFALL OF THE 2015-16
WINTER SEASON ON THE 17TH. THIS RANKS AS THE 7TH LATEST FIRST
MEASURABLE SNOWFALL ON RECORD.

A PRELIMINARY RECORD DAILY SNOWFALL OF 25.5 INCHES WAS SET ON THE
23RD...BREAKING THE OLD RECORD OF 11.5 SET IN 1935. THIS IS ALSO THE
RECORD HIGHEST ALL-TIME SINGLE DAY SNOWFALL AMOUNT...BREAKING THE
OLD RECORD OF 23.3 INCHES SET ON JANUARY 28TH 1922.

A PRELIMINARY STORM TOTAL SNOWFALL OF 29.2 INCHES ON THE 22ND-23RD
WOULD RANK AS THE LARGEST SNOWSTORM ON RECORD IN BALTIMORE MD.
