Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central South Carolina
and East Central Georgia
National Weather Service Columbia SC
429 AM EDT Sun Apr 23 2017

.DISCUSSION...

A back door front will shift south into our central forecast area
(FA) this morning, then remain nearly stationary or slowly shift
back north some as a warm front ahead of a cold front, and upper and
surface low pressure, approaching from the west. North of the front
today, expect NE to E winds and cooler temps. Along and south of the
front, expect scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon,
with variable winds. Main concern is batch of thunderstorms, with
potential for some of them to be severe, to shift east into the CSRA
by late afternoon and track east across the remainder of the FA
tonight. The upper and surface lows will slowly track east across
the region Monday, providing additional shower activity, with
afternoon thunderstorms, possibly severe, mainly E FA. Locally heavy
rain will also be possible tonight into Monday. Expect shifting or
variable winds through the period.
