Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central Pennsylvania
National Weather Service State College PA
1113 AM EDT Sun Apr 30 2017

.DISCUSSION...
A nearly stationary frontal boundary will remain over the
forecast area today. Skies will be mostly cloudy today
and a few showers will likely form across the western
mountains of the state thrugh early this afternoon. The showers
will then drift northeast across the Central Mountains and
Susquehanna Valley during the mid to late afternoon hours.
Rainfall will be mainly less than one-tenth of an inch.

Skies will stay mostly cloudy tonight and generally dry
with just a few brief and isolated showers possible.

A strong cold front will plow east across the district
on Monday, preceded by one or more bands of showers and
some scattered strong to potentially severe thunderstorms
containing wind gusts in excess of 50 mph and large hail.
Rainfall of one quarter to one half of an inch will be
common, while localized rainfall amounts of one-half inch
to one-inch is also expected.

The cold front will be followed by brisk west to northwest
winds, and cooler and drier air for Tuesday and Tuesday night.

Fair weather with milder temperatures and lighter wind
will occur Wednesday under a weak ridge of high pressure.

Deep moisture will flow north into the state Thursday
afternoon through Friday, likely bringing a significant,
widespread rain event.
