FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LOS ANGELES/OXNARD CA
330 PM PDT MON AUG 31 2015

...GUSTY ONSHORE WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITIES WILL BRING ELEVATED FIRE DANGER
TO THE MOUNTAINS AND ANTELOPE VALLEY THROUGH MUCH OF THE WEEK...

.DISCUSSION...A TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE WILL CONTINUE ALONG THE WEST
COAST THROUGH THE WEEK AND LIKELY INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK.
THIS WILL BRING COOLER TEMPERATURES TO MOST AREAS, WITH HIGHS DROPPING
TO BELOW SEASONAL NORMALS BY TOMORROW. THE MARINE LAYER WILL
DEEPEN THROUGH THE WEEK WITH LOW CLOUDS PUSHING WELL INTO THE VALLEYS
EACH NIGHT THIS WEEK. THIS WILL PROVIDE EXCELLENT HUMIDITY
RECOVERIES FOR LOWER ELEVATIONS. HOWEVER, AT HIGHER ELEVATIONS ABOVE THE
MARINE LAYER, LOWER HUMIDITIES WILL PREVAIL ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS AND ANTELOPE
VALLEY. THE DRIEST AIR WILL BE FOCUSED FOR ELEVATIONS ABOVE 5000 FEET WHERE
HUMIDITIES COULD LOCALLY FALL INTO SINGLE DIGITS EACH DAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY
ALONG WITH POOR HUMIDITY RECOVERIES AT NIGHT. IN ADDITION TO THE DRY AIR...
THERE WILL BE GUSTY ONSHORE WINDS IN THE MOUNTAINS AND ANTELOPE VALLEY
WHERE GUSTS WILL GENERALLY RANGE BETWEEN 25 AND 35 MPH EACH AFTERNOON AND
EVENING THIS WEEK. THE COMBINATION OF GUSTY ONSHORE WINDS...WARM
TEMPERATURES...AND LOW HUMIDITIES WILL BRING ELEVATED FIRE DANGER THROUGH AT
LEAST WEDNESDAY FOR THE MOUNTAINS AND ANTELOPE VALLEY...ESPECIALLY FOR
ELEVATIONS ABOVE 5000 FEET.
