...SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA WEATHER SUMMARY FOR JUNE 2014...

NO MEASURABLE RAIN FELL AT ANY MAJOR RECORDING STATION IN
SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA DURING THE MONTH OF JUNE 2014. MONTHLY
RAINFALL TYPICALLY AVERAGES A FEW HUNDREDTHS OF AN INCH TO AROUND A
TENTH OF AN INCH OF RAIN IN MOST LOCATIONS.

TEMPERATURES WERE GENERALLY NEAR NORMAL TO 2 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL IN
COASTAL AND VALLEY AREAS...2 TO 4 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL ACROSS THE
INTERIOR VALLEYS AND IN THE DESERTS...AND UP TO 6 DEGREES ABOVE
NORMAL IN THE MOUNTAINS.

JUNE WAS A VERY BENIGN MONTH ACROSS THE FORECAST AREA. THERE WERE NO
PROLONGED STRETCHES OF HIGH HEAT. HIGH TEMPERATURES ONLY REACHED OR
EXCEEDED 100 DEGREES IN THE ANTELOPE VALLEY AND IN LOWER ELEVATIONS
IN THE MOUNTAINS FROM THE 7TH THROUGH THE 9TH AND ON THE 29TH AND
30TH...AND ACROSS THE INTERIOR VALLEYS OF SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY ON
THE 8TH...9TH...20TH AND 29TH.

ON THE 6TH INTO THE 7TH...GUSTY WEST TO NORTHWEST WINDS AFFECTED THE
INTERSTATE 5 CORRIDOR AND PORTIONS OF THE ANTELOPE VALLEY. PEAK
WIND GUSTS INCLUDED 48 MPH AT SANDBERG...46 MPH AT LAKE PALMDALE
AND 45 MPH AT WHITAKER PEAK.

ON THE 13TH INTO THE 14TH...GUSTY WINDS ONCE AGAIN AFFECTED THE
INTERSTATE 5 CORRIDOR AND THE ANTELOPE VALLEY...WITH PEAK GUSTS
OF 51 MPH AT WHITAKER PEAK...50 MPH AT LAKE PALMDALE AND 48 MPH AT
SANDBERG.

FROM THE 24TH THROUGH THE 29TH...GUSTY NORTHWEST TO NORTH WINDS
AFFECTED THE INTERSTATE 5 CORRIDOR FROM TIME TO TIME. AT
SANDBERG...WIND GUSTS PEAKED AT 48 MPH ON THE 24TH...61 MPH ON THE
25TH AND 52 MPH ON THE 26TH.

DURING THE EVENING HOURS ON THE 26TH...GUSTY NORTHERLY SUNDOWNER
WINDS AFFECTED SOUTHERN SANTA BARBARA COUNTY. WIND GUSTS REACHED 51
MPH AT LAS FLORES CANYON.

ON THE 27TH...PEAK WIND GUSTS INCLUDED 64 MPH AT WHITAKER PEAK...46
MPH AT CAMP NINE AND 45 MPH AT SANDBERG. ON THE 28TH...PEAK WIND
GUSTS OF 58 MPH WERE RECORDED AT WHITAKER PEAK AND SANDBERG...WITH A
PEAK GUSTS OF 50 MPH AT CAMP NINE. THEN ON THE 28TH...A PEAK WIND
GUST OF 46 MPH WAS RECORDED AT SANDBERG.
