FIRE DANGER STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CORPUS CHRISTI TX

..ELEVATED FIRE DANGER CONDITIONS ACROSS THE SOUTHERN COASTAL
BEND AND SOUTHERN BRUSH COUNTRY THIS AFTERNOON...

VERY WARM TEMPERATURES WILL COMBINE WITH A SUFFICIENTLY DRY
AIRMASS AND STRONG GUSTY SOUTHEAST WINDS THIS AFTERNOON TO
RESULT IN AN ELEVATED FIRE DANGER CONDITION FOR THE SOUTHERN
COASTAL BEND AND SOUTHERN BRUSH COUNTRY.

SOUTHEAST WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 20 TO 35 MPH THIS AFTERNOON,
WITH OCCASIONAL GUSTS AROUND 40 MPH OVER THE SOUTHERN COASTAL
BEND. AFTERNOON HUMIDITY WILL FALL TO 35 TO 40 PERCENT OVER THE
SOUTHERN COASTAL BEND AND AROUND 30 PERCENT FOR THE SOUTHERN BRUSH
COUNTRY THIS AFTERNOON. WINDS WILL DIMINISH AND HUMIDITY VALUES
WILL INCREASE BY 6 PM.

AFFECTED RESIDENTS ARE URGED TO EXERCISE CARE WITH RESPECT TO ALL
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES THAT COULD INADVERTENTLY CAUSE WILDFIRES. AVOID
THE USE OF WELDING OF GRINDING EQUIPMENT NEAR WEEKS, GRASS AND
DRY BRUSH. IN ADDITION, AVOID PARKING VEHICLES IN TALL, DRY GRASS
AND WEEDS THAT COULD BE IGNITED. DO NOT TOSS CIGARETTE BUTTS ON
THE GROUND. REPORT WILDFIRES QUICKLY TO THE NEAREST FIRE
DEPARTMENT OR LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICE.
