* LOCATIONS...WESTERN AND CENTRAL MASSACHUSETTS AS WELL AS
  SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE...

* HAZARD TYPES...HEAVY SNOW.

* ACCUMULATIONS...SNOW ACCUMULATION OF 8 TO 12 INCHES...ALONG
  WITH AROUND A TRACE OF ICE.

* TIMING...SNOW WILL TAPER OFF TO SCATTERED FLURRIES BY AROUND
  MIDNIGHT.

* IMPACTS...PRIMARY IMPACTS ARE HAZARDOUS TRAVEL AND DOWNED LIMBS
  AND WIRES DUE TO THE HEAVY WET SNOW. TRAVEL WILL REMAIN
  HAZARDOUS THROUGH MIDNIGHT DUE TO A COMBINATION OF LIGHT TO
  MODERATE SNOW AND TEMPERATURES DROPPING ANOTHER DEGREE OR TWO
  BELOW FREEZING. ROAD CONDITIONS SHOULD GRADUALLY IMPROVE AFTER
  MIDNIGHT...BUT DRIVERS NEED TO BE WARY OF PATCHES OF BLACK ICE
  THROUGH THE EARLY MORNING HOURS.

A WINTER STORM WARNING IS ISSUED WHEN AN AVERAGE OF 6 OR MORE
INCHES OF SNOW IS EXPECTED IN A 12 HOUR PERIOD...OR FOR 8 OR MORE
INCHES IN A 24 HOUR PERIOD. TRAVEL WILL BE SLOW AT BEST ON WELL
TREATED SURFACES...AND QUITE DIFFICULT ON ANY UNPLOWED OR
UNTREATED SURFACES.

  EASTERN AND NORTHEASTERN MASSACHUSETTS.

* HAZARD TYPES...HEAVY SNOW.

* ACCUMULATIONS...SNOW ACCUMULATION OF 3 TO 5 INCHES...ALONG WITH
  UP TO A TENTH OF ICE.

* TIMING...SNOW OR MIXED PRECIPITATION CHANGING TO SNOW SHOULD
  TAPER OFF BETWEEN 10 PM AND MIDNIGHT. WARNINGS WILL BE DROPPED
  ONCE THE STEADIER PRECIPITATION COMES TO AN END...PROBABLY LATER
  THIS EVENING OR AROUND MIDNIGHT.

* IMPACTS...VARYING DEGREES OF SNOW...SLUSH AND ICE ON ROAD
  SURFACES WILL MAKE TRAVEL HAZARDOUS IN MOST OF THE AREA THROUGH
  THIS EVENING. CONDITIONS SHOULD START TO IMPROVE BY
  MIDNIGHT...BUT DRIVERS WILL NEED TO BE WARY OF PATCHES OF BLACK
  ICE THROUGH THE EARLY MORNING HOURS.

  AROUND A TRACE OF ICE.

* TIMING...RAIN WILL MIX WITH SLEET AND SNOW BEFORE ENDING AROUND
  OR A LITTLE AFTER MIDNIGHT. TEMPERATURES WILL LIKELY COOL TO
  NEAR FREEZING BY MIDNIGHT AND CAUSE UNTREATED SURFACES TO BECOME
  SLIPPERY.

* IMPACTS...MAIN IMPACT WILL BE THE FORMATION OF SOME ICY SPOTS ON
  UNTREATED ROAD SURFACES OVERNIGHT. PATCHY BLACK ICE IS POSSIBLE
  FOR A TIME DURING THURSDAY MORNING.

* UNCERTAINTY...SOME UNCERTAINTY ON HOW MUCH SNOW MAY ACCUMULATE
  AT THE END OF THE STORM IN THIS AREA. AT THIS TIME LOOKS LIKE
  PROBABLY NO MORE THAN AN INCH OR SO.
