URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...SNOW SPREADING ACROSS SOUTHERN WISCONSIN...

.STEADY SNOW HAS SPREAD INTO SOUTH CENTRAL AND PARTS OF EAST
CENTRAL WISCONSIN EARLY THIS MORNING. THE SNOW WILL CONTINUE TO
SPREAD EASTWARD...REACHING SOUTHEAST WISCONSIN AND THE MILWAUKEE
AREA BETWEEN 8 AM AND 11 AM THIS MORNING. THIS WILL BE THE FIRST
WIDESPREAD ACCUMULATING SNOWFALL OF THE SEASON. SNOWFALL WILL
RANGE FROM TWO AND A HALF INCHES BY THE LAKE SHORE TO 3 TO 5
INCHES MOST INLAND AREAS.

THE SNOW WILL CAUSE REDUCED VISIBILITIES AND SLIPPERY CONDITIONS.
DRIVERS TEND TO UNDERESTIMATE THE EFFECT OF THE SNOW ON ROADWAYS
DURING THE FIRST SNOWFALL OF THE SEASON. RULE NUMBER ONE TODAY IS
SLOW DOWN WHEN DRIVING IN THE SNOW. MOST ACCIDENTS OCCUR IN
LIGHTER SNOWFALL.

THE SNOW WILL TAPER OFF FROM WEST TO EAST DURING THE AFTERNOON AND
EARLY EVENING.
