gradually pushed southeast. Behind the boundary, winds were generally

Scattered showers are expected in far southern Iowa through daybreak

cold front slides into the state today with winds increasing from the
northwest. Temperatures are forecast to top out around 60 in the far
north and near 70 in the south as the cooler air doesn`t arrive until
later in the day.

Tonight and beyond:

Cooler and dry conditions are expected tonight into Wednesday as
surface ridging slides across the Midwest. Overnight low are expected
to drop to near freezing in northeast Iowa with the possibility of
frost and freeze conditions late tonight. Otherwise, mostly sunny
skies are forecast on Wednesday with near normal temperatures.

A more active weather pattern develops across the region later
Thursday and into the weekend. A couple of different storm systems are
expected to produce widespread showers and storms Thursday night into
Friday evening and again from late Saturday into Sunday evening. It
