...GALE WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM TO 7 PM CDT TUESDAY...
* WHAT...For the Small Craft Advisory, southeast winds to 30 kt
with a few gale force gusts in excess of 35 kt and significant
waves to 8 ft occasionally to 10 ft expected. For the Gale
Warning, southwest gales in excess of 35 kt and significant
waves to 6 ft occasionally to 8 ft expected.
* WHERE...Illinois and Indiana nearshore from Winthrop Harbor IL
to Michigan City IN.
* WHEN...For the Small Craft Advisory, until 10 AM CDT Tuesday.
For the Gale Warning, from 10 AM to 7 PM CDT Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...Strong winds will cause hazardous waves which could
capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A brief period of southerly gale force
gusts in excess of 35 kt may occur from midnight to daybreak
Tuesday morning before the Gale Warning goes into effect.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Mariners should alter plans to avoid these hazardous conditions.
Remain in port, seek safe harbor, alter course, and/or secure the
vessel for severe conditions.
