...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR EASTERN MONROE COUNTY
UNTIL 230 PM CDT...

THE STORMS WHICH PRODUCED THE HEAVY RAIN THIS MORNING HAVE MOVED
WELL EAST OF THE WARNING AREA.   HOWEVER...RUNOFF FROM THIS HEAVY
RAIN WILL MEAN A CONTINUED FLASH FLOOD THREAT INTO THE EARLY
AFTERNOON HOURS.

RAINFALL ESTIMATES FROM RADAR INDICATE THAT OVER 4 INCHES OF RAIN
FELL DURING THE MORNING IN A FAIRLY NARROW BAND FROM NORTHWEST OF
STOUTSVILLE TO SOUTHEAST OF FLORIDA...AND A RAINFALL OBSERVER AT
STOUTSVILLE MEASURED JUST UNDER FOUR AND ONE-HALF INCHES OF RAIN
SHORTLY BEFORE NOON.

RUNOFF FROM THIS EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING TO
OCCUR. SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLASH FLOODING
INCLUDE...MONROE CITY....STOUTSVILLE...AND FLORIDA.

THIS WARNING INCLUDES MARK TWAIN LAKE RECREATIONAL AREA.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS IMMINENT. IT IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW WHERE
YOU ARE RELATIVE TO STREAMS...RIVERS...OR CREEKS WHICH CAN BECOME
KILLERS IN HEAVY RAINS. CAMPERS AND HIKERS SHOULD AVOID STREAMS OR
CREEKS.

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLASH FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR
OCCURRING. IF YOU ARE IN THE WARNING AREA...MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND
IMMEDIATELY. RESIDENTS LIVING ALONG STREAMS AND CREEKS SHOULD TAKE
IMMEDIATE PRECAUTIONS TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO
CROSS SWIFTLY FLOWING WATERS OR WATERS OF UNKNOWN DEPTH BY FOOT OR BY
AUTOMOBILE.
