THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ST LOUIS HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  EASTERN MONROE COUNTY IN NORTHEAST MISSOURI...

* UNTIL 230 PM CDT

* AT 1112 AM CDT...LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS REPORTED FLOODING
  NORTHEAST OF PARIS. ONE FOOT OF WATER WAS COVERING HIGHWAY 24 AT
  THE OTTER CREEK BRIDGE.  THE THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING THE HEAVY
  RAIN WILL BE ENDING SHORTLY...BUT THE FLASH FLOOD THREAT WILL
  CONTINUE FOR SEVERAL HOURS AFTER THE RAIN ENDS.

* RUNOFF FROM THIS EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING TO
  OCCUR. SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLOODING INCLUDE...
  MONROE CITY.

THIS WARNING INCLUDES MARK TWAIN LAKE RECREATIONAL AREA.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS IMMINENT. IT IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW WHERE
YOU ARE RELATIVE TO STREAMS...RIVERS...OR CREEKS WHICH CAN BECOME
KILLERS IN HEAVY RAINS. CAMPERS AND HIKERS SHOULD AVOID STREAMS OR
CREEKS.

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR OCCURRING.
IF YOU ARE IN THE WARNING AREA MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND IMMEDIATELY.
RESIDENTS LIVING ALONG STREAMS AND CREEKS SHOULD TAKE IMMEDIATE
PRECAUTIONS TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS
SWIFTLY FLOWING WATERS OR WATERS OF UNKNOWN DEPTH BY FOOT OR BY
AUTOMOBILE.
