.This Flood Warning is a result of coninued rainfall over the upper basin
and around 2 inches in the next 24 hours...


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...


Heavy rains could cause river levels to rise even higher than predicted.

The National Weather Service will continue to monitor this situation and
issue follow up statements as conditions or forecasts change.

Safety message:  Never drive cars, trucks, or sport utility vehicles
through flooded areas.  The water may be too deep to allow for safe
passage.

The Flood Warning continues for
  the Mississippi River at Canton Lock and Dam 20.
* At 8 PM Monday the stage was 23.4 feet.
* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast: The river will fall to near 23.0 feet by Wednesday morning.
* Impact:  At 21.7 feet...Route B is closed from Poage Street in
  LaGrange to the south side of the LaGrange city limits near this
  height.  This makes Route C the only way into and out of town.
* Impact:  At 20.0 feet...Flood waters reach the top of the upper
  gates.
* Impact:  At 19.5 feet...In La Grange, parts of Highway 61/Highway B
  begin to flood.
* Impact:  At 19.4 feet...Water reaches the top of the lock wall,
  flooding the lock chamber.
* Impact:  At 19.3 feet...Drainage District begins to fill up.

The Flood Warning continues for
  the Mississippi River at Quincy.
* At  8:15 PM Monday the stage was 26.6 feet.
* Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
* Major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast: The river will rise to near 26.8 feet by tomorrow evening.
* Impact:  At 26.4 feet...The main floor of the Quincy Boat House off
  Bonansinga Drive will flood near this height.
* Impact:  At 26.3 feet...Eastbound lanes of the US Highway 24 bridge
  (Memorial Bridge) are closed.  Eastbound traffic is diverted to the
  northern US Highway 24 bridge, or onto the Bayview Bridge.
* Impact:  At 24.0 feet...In Quincy, Bonansinga Drive is closed at
  Cedar Street and at Koch`s Lane.  Illinois Highway 57 is closed
  between Jefferson Street and the Gardner Denver company.  In
  LaGrange, MO, Main Street (U.S. Business 61) and other structures
  begin to flood.

  the Mississippi River at Quincy Lock and Dam 21.
* At 8 PM Monday the stage was 26.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
* Major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast: The river will rise to near 26.1 feet by tomorrow evening.
* Impact:  At 25.0 feet...Quincy Waterworks inundated.
* Impact:  At 21.9 feet...Near this level, the lock is closed to
  navigation.  This level will vary with circumstance.

The Flood Warning continues for
  the Mississippi River at Hannibal.
* At 8:15 PM Monday the stage was 26.4 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast: The river will rise to near 26.7 feet by Wednesday afternoon.
* Impact:  At 27.0 feet...A few small bussinesses along the riverfront
  outside of the floodwall, along Bear Creek and along the minnow
  branch of Bear Creek are either cut-off or inundated.   A large
  portion of downtown Hannibal is cut-off.
* Impact:  At 26.2 feet...The Sny Island Drainage District Levee is
  overtopped.
* Impact:  At 25.3 feet...State Highway 79 closes from south of
  Hannibal to Missouri Route N.
* Impact:  At 24.6 feet...Highway 79 south of Hannibal is closed at
  the cement plant.

  the Mississippi River at Saverton Lock and Dam 22.
* At 8 PM Monday the stage was 25.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast: The river will rise to near 26.2 feet by Wednesday evening.
* Impact:  At 26.0 feet...In Monkey Run (north of Saverton), houses
  begin flooding near this level.
* Impact:  At 25.5 feet...Near this level, Highway E becomes flooded
  south of the bridge.  Also, homes in Riverview Acres (just south of
  the lock and dam) begin to flood.
* Impact:  At 25.0 feet...Water enters Lock House.

The Flood Warning continues for
  the Mississippi River at Louisiana.
* At 9 PM Monday the stage was 23.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast:  The river will rise to near 24.8 feet by Wednesday evening.
* Impact:  At 25.2 feet...Missouri Highway 79 from County Road 115 to
  County Road 117 is closed northwest of Louisiana.
* Impact:  At 23.5 feet...Sny Levee District starts mobilizing to
  close levee.
* Impact:  At 23.1 feet...The east approach to the Highway 54 bridge
  begins to flood.
* Impact:  At 23.0 feet...The motors at the city sewage treatment
  plant are pulled and the facility is closed.  Houses in Southeast
  Louisiana begin to flood.
* Impact:  At 22.9 feet...US Route 54 to Louisiana Missouri is closed
  on the Illinois side of the bridge.

  the Mississippi River at Clarksville Lock and Dam 24.
* At 9 PM Monday the stage was 34.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 25.0 feet.
* Major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast: The river will rise to near 35.2 feet by Thursday morning.
* Impact:  At 33.2 feet...IL route 96 near Mozier inundated and closed
  near this height.
* Impact:  At 33.1 feet...Route N is closed between Route D and
  Highway 79.
* Impact:  At 33.0 feet...Clarksville city businesses from 1st Street
  to 3rd Street begin to flood.
* Impact:  At 31.5 feet...Burlington Northern SF railroad tracks begin
  to flood.  Also, Highway 79 closes one mile south of Clarksville.

  the Mississippi River at Winfield Lock and Dam 25.
* At 9 PM Monday the stage was 33.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 26.0 feet.
* Major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast: The river will rise to near 35.3 feet by Friday morning.
* Impact:  At 35.6 feet...Highway 79 is closed from Winfield north to
  Route Y.
* Impact:  At 35.5 feet...Highway 79 is closed from Bobs Creek to one
  mile south.
* Impact:  At 34.2 feet...Route M is closed south of Elsberry from
  east of Highway 79 at the railroad tracks to where state
  maintenance ends.
* Impact:  At 34.0 feet...This is the level of the levee protection
  for Winfield.
* Impact:  At 33.5 feet...Near this height, the office building and
  storage building of Kimaterials, a sand and gravel company on
  Highway 79 between Winfield and Old Monroe, begins flooding.
* Impact:  At 32.9 feet...Route N is closed from Highway 79 at
  Winfield to where state maintenance ends.

  the Mississippi River at Grafton.
* At 9 PM Monday the stage was 23.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast:  The river will rise to near 27.2 feet by Saturday morning.
* Impact:  At 27.6 feet...Beasley`s Fish Market at Main & Overmeyer
  floods.
* Impact:  At 27.5 feet...The intersection at Main Street and Dagget
  Hollow begins flooding.
* Impact:  At 26.5 feet...At this height the entrance to the Illinois
  Youth Center at Pere Marquette State Park becomes flooded, forcing
  the evacuation of those staying there.
* Impact:  At 26.4 feet...Residential flooding in Grafton occurs
* Impact:  At 26.0 feet...Water distribution system begins to flood so
  emergency measures begin.
* Impact:  At 25.6 feet...Car Wash at Main & Sycamore floods
* Impact:  At 25.5 feet...Brussels Ferry closes near this height.
  O`Jan`s Fish Stand in Grafton closes near this height.
* Impact:  At 25.2 feet...The intersection at Main Street and Canal
  Street begins flooding.
* Impact:  At 24.9 feet...Water reaches the intersection of Main St.
  and Edwards St.
* Impact:  At 24.7 feet...City of Grafton closes Route 100 near Evans
  Street.  Also at this level the Catholic Church parking lot at Main
  & Evans begins flooding.  This represents the lowest point on Main
  Street in Grafton.
* Impact:  At 24.0 feet...Route 100 begins flooding at Chautaqua and
  Elsah.
* Impact:  At 23.4 feet...Huster Road and South Shore Drive, both at
  the entrance to the South Shore subdivision, are closed near this
  level.

  the Mississippi River at Alton Lock and Dam 26
* At 9 PM Monday the stage was 22.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 21.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast:  The river will rise to near 26.8 feet by Saturday evening.
* Impact:  At 26.5 feet...Yachtview Drive begins flooding along the
  entrance to Harbor Point Yacht Club.
* Impact:  At 25.0 feet...Highway 94 and the east end of Harbor Point
  Road off of Highway 94 north of West Alton begin flooding.  Also,
  the access road to the Lincoln Shields area off Highway 67 just
  west of the Clark bridge begins flooding.
* Impact:  At 24.0 feet...Alta Villa Road off of Highway 94 north of
  West Alton is closed.
* Impact:  At 23.0 feet...Dresser Island Drive floods at this level.

* At 9 PM Monday the stage was 28.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 27.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast:  The river will rise to near 34.3 feet by Monday afternoon.
* Impact:  At 34.8 feet...Kaskaskia Street near the Menard Prison
  begins flooding near this height.
* Impact:  At 34.7 feet...The north parking lot at Menard Correctional
  Center begins flooding.
* Impact:  At 33.5 feet...Water Street in Chester begins flooding.
* Impact:  At 32.5 feet...The Road at Fort Gage Farm begins flooding
  at Menard Correctional Center.
* Impact:  At 32.0 feet...In Perry County, Highway E is closed between
  County Road 322 and Levee Road (County Road 354).  Also, Highway A
  is closed between County Roads 448 and 460 in southern Perry
  County.
* Impact:  At 28.0 feet...Unleveed islands near Chester and the prison
  farm floods.
