Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern/Central MO and Southwest IL
National Weather Service Saint Louis MO
342 AM CDT Wed Apr 17 2024

.DISCUSSION...

Elevated fire danger will exist this afternoon along and south of
I-70 in Missouri and I-64 in Illinois, where gusty west winds and
low relative humidity will conincide. If fires do start, mixing
heights will be very high and strong transport winds will
efficiently mix any smoke very quickly. Winds diminish near
sunset, ending the threat. Showers and thunderstorms are
increasingly likely on Thursday across most of the region, and
they may result in wind gusts of 50-60mph at times. Following the
threat for thunderstorms on Thursday, dry and cool conditions
persist through the weekend.
