...This Week is Severe Weather Awareness Week for Illinois and
Missouri...

March 5 - 11, 2017 is Severe Weather Awareness Week for Illinois
and Missouri. Please take time this week to review your severe
weather communication and safety plans.

The annual Statewide Severe Weather Drill for Illinois and
Missouri will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at
10:00 am CST. All National Weather Service offices serving
Illinois and Missouri will send out a test tornado warning. The
warning will be coded as a real tornado warning, but it will
clearly be marked as a test.

NOAA Weather Radio will be activated for the test. The Emergency
Alert System (EAS) code TOR, for tornado warnings, will be used.
All media entities are encouraged to monitor their EAS systems to
make sure you receive the warning message.

The Wireless Emergency Alert system for cellular phones will not
activate. Outdoor warning sirens will be activated at the
discretion of local officials.
