...The National Weather Service in St Louis has issued a hydrologic
statement for the following rivers...

  Kaskaskia River affecting Vandalia

Safety message:  Never drive cars, trucks, or sport utility vehicles
through flooded areas.  The water may be too deep to allow for safe
passage.

Forecast information for
  Kaskaskia River at Vandalia.
* At 11AM Thursday the stage was 12.3 feet.
* No flooding is currently forecast.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Forecast:  The river will rise to near 16.5 feet early Saturday
  afternoon.
