504 FNUS52 KMLB 081903 FWFMLB Fire Weather Planning Forecast for East Central Florida National Weather Service Melbourne FL 303 PM EDT Wed May 8 2024 .Discussion... High pressure over the western Atlantic will remain the primary influence over east central Florida through Thursday. Fire sensitive condtions will increase into Thursday with near red flag criteria on Friday. Winds will increase from the south- southwest at 10-15mph Thursday and back slightly onshore from the south-southeast along the coast to the south of Cape Canaveral into the afternoon. Winds are forecast to increase from the west-southwest at 15-20mph into Friday afternoon with gusts up to 30mph. A High Significant Fire Potential is outlooked to the north of the Treasure Coast Thursday and across all of east central Florida Friday. Minimum RH values are expected to drop into the mid 30s across the interior Thursday and the low to mid 30s across the interior south of Orlando Friday. Afternoon highs are forecast to reach the low to upper 90s Thursday and Friday under mostly sunny to partly sunny skies. Heat index values are expected to reach the mid 90s to low 100s. Dispersion values will be Excellent Thursday and Friday. Isolated to scattered showers and isolated lightning storms are forecast well ahead of a cold front Friday afternoon and evening with ocassional lighting strikes and gusty winds the primary hazards. Fog potential and other remarks...Widespread fog is not forecast. Localized visibility reductions due to smoke from new or existing fires will be possible even if fog is not forecast.
