THE MONTH OF JUNE FOR ANNETTE ISLAND, AK WAS BASICALLY AN AVERAGE MONTH FOR THE
AREA WITH THE ONLY OUTLIER BEING JUST SLIGHTLY WARMER AND DRIER THAN USUAL. ONE
THUNDERSTORM WAS RECORDED AND THE AREA ENCOUNTERED A LOT OF SMALL LOW PRESSURE
SYSTEMS BOTH AT THE SURFACE AND ALOFT THROUGHOUT THE MONTH, HOWEVER THE AREA WAS
FAR FROM ANY EXTREMES. THE MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE REACHED WAS 80F (DEGREES
FAHRENHEIT) ON THE 14TH AND THE MINIMUM FELL TO 44F ON THE 12TH. THE AVERAGE
TEMPERATURE OF 58.6F WAS JUST 3.5F ABOVE NORMAL. THE HIGH AND LOW RECORDS FOR JUNE
ARE 93F AND 37F, RESPECTIVELY. A TOTAL OF 8 DAYS REACHED AT LEAST 70F OR ABOVE
WHICH IS MORE THAN DOUBLE THE AVERAGE 3.5 DAYS. THERE SHOULD BE NO SURPRISE TO
HEAR THAT TOTAL PRECIPITATION FOR THE MONTH WAS 0.89 INCHES BELOW THE AVERAGE FOR A
TOTAL OF 3.99 INCHES. A LOT OF AREAS IN ALASKA WERE RELATIVELY DRY WHICH FUELED A
LOT OF FOREST FIRES. THE AREA DID HAVE 16 DAYS WITH RAIN, BUT ONLY 6 DAYS HAD A
SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OVER 1/10 OF AN INCH OR MORE. THERE WAS NO FROZEN PRECIPITATION
WHATSOEVER. THE AVERAGE WIND SPEED WAS 5.1MPH AND THE HIGHEST THE WIND SPEED
REACHED WAS 33MPH. NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY HERE WITH MOST VALUES FOR THE MONTH
JUST SLIGHTLY DEVIATED FROM AVERAGE.
