JANUARY BEGAN WITH A PERIOD OF WARM AND WET WEATHER, BUT A COLD
FRONT ON THE 4TH USHERED IN COLDER AIR. THE COLD WEATHER LASTED
THROUGH THE 10TH BEFORE MUCH WARMER AIR BROKE THE COLD SPELL AND THE

THE EARLY WINTER SNOW PACK DOWN TO ONE THIRD WHAT IT WAS TO START
THE MONTH. ALTHOUGH MILD WEATHER WAS THE RULE THROUGH THE REST OF
THE MONTH, THOUGH THERE WERE A FEW PERIODS OF WINTRY WEATHER. MORE
THAN 4 INCHES OF SNOW FELL ON THE 18TH AND 19TH, HELPING TO
STABILIZE THE DIMINISHING SNOW COVER. ANOTHER STORM SYSTEM BROUGHT
SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN ON THE 24TH.

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 27.4 DEGREES WHICH WAS 6.4
DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THE WARMEST JANUARY ON RECORD WAS IN 2006 WHEN
THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE WAS 28.9 DEGREES. THE COLDEST WAS 12.9
DEGREES IN 2004.

A TOTAL OF 2.98 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION FELL WHICH WAS 0.55 INCHES
BELOW NORMAL. THE HEAVIEST PRECIPITATION WAS ON THE 24TH WHEN 1.43
INCHES WAS RECORDED. THE DRIEST JANUARY WAS IN 2004 WHEN ONLY 0.40
INCHES FELL. THE WETTEST WAS IN 1999 WHEN 6.70 INCHES WAS MEASURED.

A TOTAL OF 8.4 INCHES OF SNOW FELL WHICH WAS 12.8 INCHES BELOW
NORMAL. THE HEAVIEST SNOWSTORM WAS ON THE 18TH AND 19TH WHEN 4.6
INCHES FELL. THE SNOWIEST JANUARY WAS IN 2015 WHEN 45.8 INCHES WAS
MEASURED. THE LEAST SNOWY JANUARY WAS 2004 WITH ONLY 3.1 INCHES.
